Oh boy, Galaxy S26 is not even here yet, but guess what? I heard super-secret talk ’bout the Galaxy S27 Ultra, that phone won’t come out ’til early 2027. They might change how you unlock the phone with your face, which is a really big deal, they maybe won’t use that old IR light thing anymore.
New ‘Polar ID’ Security Rumor
This one new secret thing says the S27 Ultra might get a “polarized-light” face unlock, okay? This would be a huge change for Samsung; they could drop the separate IR parts for this cool, new way to know it’s really you. This info comes from a guy named @SPYGO19726 on X, he posted stuff he saw in super early test software for S27 Ultra, talking ’bout “Polar ID v1.0” in the security code. The guy said the phone’s notes call it a “polarized-light authentication system,” showing they are working hard on it right now.
How Polarized Light Could Work
If that “Polar ID v1.0” thing is real, this would be the first time Samsung really tries a face unlock that doesn’t need big infrared gadgets. Right now, super-good face recognition uses IR to make a detailed 3D map of your face. The tipster also mentioned this new face part seems “tied to the front ISOCELL Vizion sensor” plus a new security part called “BIO-Fusion Core,” so it’s all working super close with the camera. I read this new face unlock is super fast, only taking ’bout 180 milliseconds to open. Plus, it should be way better at stopping fake faces than the simple 2D unlock on today’s Galaxy phones, you know, the one that just looks at a picture. The old way isn’t as safe as the finger scanner people say.
Leaker Debate: Who to Believe?
But listen, we must be careful with this news, my friends. This same person, @SPYGO19726, just had a big fight with another famous secret-teller, Ice Universe, ’bout the camera specs for the next phone, the S26 Ultra. That whole back-and-forth makes me think maybe not all his secrets are right. Just before, @SPYGO19726 said the S26 Ultra’s 3x zoom camera would be 12 megapixels, that’s a better camera. Ice Universe was like, totally wrong, saying the S26 Ultra would use a 10-megapixel 3x zoom lens that’s even smaller than the S25 Ultra’s, that’s what Ice Universe said. “That simply isn’t true,” Ice Universe said, making the argument quite heated. Their fight shows how hard it is to know what’s real when the phone’s so far away.
Future of Face Unlock
Still, seeing “Polar ID v1.0” in the secret files does mean Samsung is really looking at different face unlock ways. This polarized-light thing could be good ’cause it needs less parts and makes it harder for fakers, that’s a win. Also, being super-fast like they say? That’d be awesome for using the phone quick. If this “Polar ID v1.0” will be in the S27 Ultra, I don’t know yet. But this rumor shows Samsung wants to make phone security better, they are looking past old ways. I bet we will hear more soon!
