You may have heard this a thousand times, but trust me, it cannot be overstated. UV rays are public enemy number one when it comes to collagen degradation. Even if you’re mostly indoors juggling content, sneaky UVA rays penetrate windows and harm your skin. My must-do habit is applying broad-spectrum SPF—even on cloudy days—and wearing a hat or sunglasses when shooting outdoors. It’s the simplest anti-aging secret in my arsenal.

2. Embrace Antioxidant-Rich Nutrition

I used to think fancy serums were the only way to protect my skin. Turns out, what I eat matters just as much. Foods full of antioxidants—like berries, citrus, green leafy veggies, and nuts—help counteract collagen-destroying free radicals. I make it a point to grab a handful of berries in the morning or toss some spinach into my lunch. That little effort consistently pays off with firmer, healthier-looking skin.

3. Mind Your Sugar Intake

As someone who loves baking, this habit was tough to nail down. But high sugar levels can lead to glycation, a process that weakens collagen. Instead of reaching for sweet snacks, I opt for natural sugar sources (again, hello berries) or experiment with low-glycemic treats. It’s not about restriction—it’s about making smarter swaps to support my skin from within.

4. Make Sleep a Sacred Ritual

Scrolling Instagram at midnight? Been there! But quality sleep is when our body ramps up collagen production and cellular repair. I set a gentle bedtime reminder and make my bedroom a tech-free zone at least 30 minutes before sleeping. If you need a nudge, think of sleep as free skincare—your future self will thank you for those extra hours of restorative rest.

5. Gentle Skincare is Key

Harsh scrubs and over-exfoliation used to be part of my routine, but these habits can damage the skin’s collagen. Now, I reach for pH-balanced cleansers and use chemical exfoliants, like glycolic acid, sparingly. After cleansing, I lock in moisture with a collagen-friendly serum.
